mums especially want to get the law changed and feel it is only right that the parent or parents are given a birth certificate, a death certificate and a certificate of stillbirth.
Why does this matter?
Without a birth certificate you baby will not be a legal entity. You will not have any documentation with you babies name upon it.
At such a stressful time for family members it is vitally important that the mother takes home something more sensitive to prove she had given birth regardless of the fact that the baby might be stillborn.
Mothers of babies born that live longer get a birth certificate, why not all mothers?
We also want to offer support and comfort to other parents who have also been through this, whether it has been recently or some time has passed since this experience has happened.
A woman is pregnant expecting her child and looking forward to all the joys they can bring.
Let us look at the baby at 24 weeks old.
The baby now weighs more than 1.3lbs or 600g. Baby is starting to fill the space in your uterus (womb). From crown to heel she could measure 30cm. Though your baby still has little body fat and her skin is thin and fragile, baby is well-proportioned.
The brain is growing rapidly, taste buds have fully developed, and baby’s footprints and fingerprints are continuing to form and is developing a sense of touch. Inside baby’s body, it is perfecting its lungs and packing on the pounds. Baby will gain ½ pound this week alone.
Baby’s ears are fully functional now, and since they are, you may notice that loud noises and sudden movements can startle it. Baby’s got a fully developed inner ear now. This means its sense of balance is working and he can tell whether its hanging upside down or right side up.
It almost looks and acts just like a fully grown baby but on a slightly smaller scale.
Yet if the baby is born now there is a good chance it may survive but if Stillborn it will not even be recognized by law as a baby and will have no certificates to mark its birth. get the government to change the law regarding this. We want to change mothers receiving a heartless certificate of stillbirth and a more companionate death certificate.
However the mother has also given birth. Therefore it is only right that the mother be given a Birth Certificate also.
This way the baby will by law be able to have been named and the birth will be legally registered. SIGN THE PETITION BELOW
