UTI’s are common in pregnant women symptoms can be , frequent urination, painful urination or burning sensation when urinating, difficulty to urinate, cloudy urine and urine with an unusual odour. these can mean infection in a few parts of the body, bladder, kidneys urethra or uretha. pregnant women are at high risk to these infections due to the hormones in pregnancy that change the urinary tract which makes it a high risk for infections. due to the uterus pressing on the bladder which can prevent the bladder from emptying completely then can will result to infections. if an UTI is left untreated it can spread the infection to the kidneys which can be painful. UTI’s need to be treated with immediate effect to help prevent any further complications to mother and unborn baby.
